MerkleClaw ("we", "our", "us") is a desktop application developed by ZeroVector Limited. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use MerkleClaw.

MerkleClaw is a local-first application. We prioritize your privacy:

• No account required. You can use MerkleClaw without creating an account.
• Local data storage. All investigation data, case files, address labels, and monitoring configurations are stored locally on your device.
• API keys. Your Etherscan, Helius, or other API keys are stored locally and never transmitted to our servers.

Data we may collect:

• Waitlist email. If you join our waitlist, we collect your email address via Web3Forms.
• Crash reports. Anonymous crash reports may be sent to help us improve the application (can be disabled in settings).
• Update checks. The application may check for updates, which sends your current version number to our update server.

3. Blockchain Data

MerkleClaw queries public blockchain data through third-party APIs (Etherscan, Helius, Blockstream, TronGrid). These queries are subject to the respective API providers' privacy policies. We do not store or relay your queries through our servers.

4. How We Use Information

• To provide and improve the MerkleClaw application
• To communicate with waitlist members about product updates
• To diagnose and fix technical issues

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties, except:

• When required by law or legal process
• To protect our rights or the safety of users

Investigation data is stored locally on your device. We recommend:

• Enabling full-disk encryption on your device
• Using strong device passwords
• Backing up sensitive case data securely

7. Law Enforcement Users

For law enforcement users handling sensitive case data: MerkleClaw stores all data locally. No case data, investigation results, or suspect information is transmitted to our servers or any third party. We recommend air-gapped operation for highly sensitive investigations.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the application or our website.
